ELZ needs new material, and she needs your help to get it! Hot Off the Press is a night of new comedy and poetry - all written that day, with topics chosen by the great Ramsgate public.

On the 13th March, ELZ will sit in Ramsgate High street all day with a typewriter and promise - give her any topic and she'll write a poem about it, right in front of you. ELZ will perform all material that night in the Alley Bar. Expect sillyness, rudeness and an extremely small amount of sincerity.

Jonny Woo, London based, visionary alt-drag and cabaret artist, brings his hit show ’Suburbia’ to The Alley Bar, Ramsgate. A unique blend of spoken word, story-telling and performance art, Suburbia is a poetic memoir about his life from his childhood in the Medway Towns, Kent, to discovering the drug 'ecstasy' in the 1990's, the clubs of New York and to building a queer community in London. Now in his fifties, Woo is reflective and honest about the secrets he harboured and the lessons he learnt. His wit is sharp and his desire to shock and surprise is evident throughout.

'Next month, Kent-based LGBTQ+ cabaret collective Screaming Alley will launch THE ALLEY BAR, a new members-only underground venue tucked beneath a barbershop in the iconic harbour town of Ramsgate...

Hosted by Meg G-J and her clutch of personalities, and featuring the fearless Violet Malice, expect Thanet’s finest wordsmiths and musos for a special International Women’s Day moment of words-on-the-mic and then some.  

This is an event for women, trans folk and feminist allies.

Join Pretzel Cage in the therapy chair for Drag Neurosis - a surreal exploration of psychoanalysis, interpretation, and transformation.

Expect a performance of the strange, the subversive, the absurd, the poignant and the potentially uncomfortable.

Ramsgate's most loved cabaret provocateurs, the ultimate odd couple, are teaming up to deliver us the Valentine's kiss we so deeply desire.

But what will Deirdre-on-the-Door have to say about it?!

Charlie has produced and performed in events in New York, Paris, Colorado, Nice, St Tropez, Elba, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean, in secret tunnels under London and even in a Bavarian Castle accessed by helicopter. Now he is down the Alley Bar testing out some new material amongst friends.

High streets broken up by empty shops have become a striking physical manifestation of an economy that feels stagnant.

After the news that retail sales rose in July but are still lower than they were before the Covid pandemic struck five years ago.

For one night only, cult superstar Baby Lame is Britney Spears, as she fearlessly uncovers the true (but completely unauthorised and definitely not approved by her legal team) story of the world’s most chaotic pop icon. Featuring 100 Britney songs (well, near enough) and directed by Deanna Fleysher (Butt Kapinski / Red Bastard), join Baby for a hilariously unhinged immersive punk odyssey through space travel, romance, murder and full-throttle pop madness, co-starring… the entire audience.

This is the Britney saga nobody asked for, but everyone will remember.

..The Alley Bar, which will launch on November 20, is being set up in the basement of a barber shop on Ramsgate High Street and is dedicated to "radical, queer, feminist and inclusive live art and performance"..

Violet has some hard feelings. Join her for a verbal deep dive into the vaults. Poetry will be spilt. New lows will be sunk to. Don't attend if you're offended by turkey crowns and swearing.

Cult songstress Diane Chorley returns to Screaming Alley to check out the new club on the block. But, will it compare to the legendary Duchess of Canvey's previous infamous nightspot the Flick?!
