The Alley Bar: who we are and how we look after the room
The Alley Bar is a tiny, 30-capacity members’ space led by Layla Stevens and Lara Clifton. We’re here for intimate live performance, good company and Ramsgate’s alternative underbelly.
We champion feminist, LGBTQ+ and sex-positive work. We want artists and audiences to feel safe being themselves here.
Look after each other
There is zero tolerance for classism, racism, transphobia, misogyny,hateful speach, harassment or unwanted sexual attention. Treat artists, staff, volunteers and fellow members with respect. Ask before touching someone or taking their photograph. If someone sets a boundary, respect it.
Give performers room to do their work, and follow the bar team’s directions. If someone’s behaviour puts others at risk or breaches this code, we may refuse entry, suspend or end their membership.
If something happens that makes you uncomfortable or concerned, tell a member of the bar team. You can also contact us privately afterwards. We’ll listen and take it seriously.
Members and guests
The Alley Bar is a members’ club. Members may bring guests, but guests must be booked in at least two days before their visit. Please make sure your guests know how we look after the space.
Access
The Alley Bar is in a cellar beneath Salt House Barbers, reached by 10 relatively steep steps. Sadly, we do not have step-free access or an accessible toilet. If you’d like to talk through access before visiting, please get in touch.
